Morgan Rhodes

HONORARIUM ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

SCHOOL: WAYNE STATE COLLEGE

SPORT: WOMEN’S SOCCER

DIVISION: 2

CONFERENCE: GREAT LAKES INTERCOLLEGIATE CONFERENCE

YEAR: JUNIOR

“It is an honor to be a student athlete because I am able to represent my school on the field by playing the sport I love, and while preparing myself for a career.”

Outside back, Morgan Rhodes, has been an outstanding soccer player prior to her time as a Wayne State Wildcat. In high school, Rhodes was a 3 year letter winner and club team player. She was a part of the Millward West team that dominated the state of Nebraska, winning the metro conference and class A titles.

Despite not having a freshman season due to covid-19, Rhodes has continued to make an impact on her team. Rhodes started in 17 games, and ranked fifth on the team in minutes played the next season. Even though she missed a game due to an injury, she tied for fifth in shots on goal on the team.

Rhodes is not only a stellar athlete, but a stellar academic scholar as well. In high school, she earned the Academic All-State honors from the Lincoln Journal Star. At Wayne State University, she is double majoring in marketing and fashion merchandising while being a full time athlete. She has also been named to the deans list in Fall of 2020 and Spring of 2021. Morgan has already 1 goal on the year in her 7 games, and we are excited to watch the rest of her season.
